On Tuesday, a video was posted to Twitter showing a North Carolina police officer slamming a teenage girl to the ground.

The video is only nine seconds long but captures the officer at Rolesville High School lifting a student in the air before slamming her to the ground. The girl is limp when he picks her up by her arms and then takes her away.

School officials for Wake County said that they were investigating the video along with the Rolesville Police Department, and the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina is also investigating the incident. According to Rolesville Mayor Frank Eagles, the officer was wearing a body camera, and the footage will be reviewed in investigating the incident.

“We’re very disturbed by what we saw in the video,” Irena Como, staff attorney for North Carolina’s ACLU, told The News & Observer in Raleigh. “This kind of force, especially with kids in schools, in never justified.”

The incident allegedly took place after a fight broke out between two girls. The student who was slammed to the ground had tried to intervene in the fight, and one witness claimed that the girl was trying to defend her sister.
