On Sunday, Hillary Clinton attended the final show of The Color Purple, and she received a standing ovation while she was there.

During the show, many cheered for Clinton and tried to snap pictures of the elusive politician. Besides the cheering and standing ovation, however, the show itself was not affected by her rare public appearance.

Clinton has been conspicuously out of the public eye since her historic loss in the 2016 presidential election, something that those in attendance at the play were well aware of.

“I was having every emotion I’ve tried to get rid of over the past few weeks,” Jordan Serpone, who was in the audience and shook Clinton’s hand at the show, told the New York Times. “She shouldn’t be here. She should be planning her Cabinet.”

Clinton’s warm reception was a stark contrast to the reaction many had to seeing Vice President-elect Mike Pence at a showing of Hamilton, where he was booed and jeered at. Pence was also directly addressed by the cast as they made an appeal to the future Vice President of the United States for unity and understanding ahead of the inauguration of a new president and administration.
