Morehouse College will be looking for a new president come June.
That’s when the contract is up for the current president, John S. Wilson, and the college has decided not to renew his contract. The board of trustees voted on Friday, though they did not allow the three student members of the board to attend the meeting, which caused some student protests.
On Friday, some of the students threatened to sue the school because the student trustees were barred from attending the meeting in which Wilson’s future was decided.

“We must make sure we have a voice in the process,” said Moses Washington, 19, a sophomore and a junior board trustee.
Recently, Wilson has come under fire and has been the subject of a petition circulated by students and alumni to remove Wilson from his position. The petition cited a reduction in health professions programming as well as reduced transparency and accused Wilson of raising revenues “on the backs of parents and students.”
As evidence of Wilson’s revenue-raising schemes, they pointed to the fact that tuition rates have been rising, up $10,000 a year for some students. They also pointed to Wilson’s recent rule requiring students to live on campus for at least three years, which adds up to $13,000 in mandatory room and board fees for each student.
