A Miami teenager committed suicide overnight on Sunday, and she posted video of herself to Facebook Live when she did so.

Nakia Venant, 14, hung herself in her foster parents’ bathroom, according to the Florida Department of Children & Families. In a two-hour long video, Venant can be seen making a noose out of a scarf, and while the Miami Herald reported that the video abruptly ended from there, friends say that the whole thing played out on Facebook Live.

A friend of Venant’s reportedly saw the video and alerted police, according to CBS. Police arrived at the friend’s house, and she gave them an address for Venant, but it turned out to be the wrong one. The people living at the address gave the police the correct address, and police arrived at Venant’s home at around 3 a.m. to find her hanging in the bathroom while her foster parents were asleep and had no idea any of this was going on.

Police tried to resuscitate her but were unsuccessful.

“We are absolutely horrified and devastated by the news of this young girl’s death,” Mike Carroll, of the Florida DFC, told the Miami Herald. “We will do everything we can to support this family and all those who cared for her as they begin to heal from this tragedy.”
