Over the course of the first five days of his presidency, President Donald Trump saw only a 36 percent approval rating, according to a Quinnipiac University poll conducted every night from Friday to Wednesday.

The results, which were released Thursday, showed that 36 percent approved of the new president, while 44 percent disapproved, and 19 percent are still undecided.

The difference is largest along party lines, according to the poll, with only 4 percent of Democrats giving their approval, as compared to 81 percent of Republicans who have thrown their support behind Trump. The difference is just as stark for disapproval: only 3 percent of Republicans disapprove of the new president, while 77 percent of Democrats disapprove of Trump. Meanwhile, independent voters are slightly more balanced, with 35 percent approving and 45 percent disapproving.

There is also a gender split in the results, perhaps unsurprising, considering the Women’s March that happened over the weekend after Trump’s inauguration. The numbers show that men approve of Trump by a small margin, with 41 percent approving and 38 percent disapproving, while a majority of women disapprove of Trump and only one-third approve.

What’s more, the poll found that half of Americans feel that Trump will be a worse president than his predecessor, Barack Obama, though a majority over voters are still optimistic about the next four years, at 53 percent.

These numbers are lower than the recent Gallup tracking poll, which showed Trump’s approval numbers at 46 percent and his disapproval rate at 45 percent.
