Last week, a 15-year-old boy died of his injuries three days after being shot in the head while fleeing from a gunman.

Rohan Levy and his three friends were not affiliated with any gangs, but one of them was wearing red pants and a blue jacket, and authorities believe he may have been mistaken for a Bloods member. A gunman stopped in front of Rohan and his friends and fired at them at least four times. Rohan was hit and died from his wounds, while another of Rohan’s friends was hit in the leg and is expected to survive.

“Right now, we’re thinking it was possibly gang (related),” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce. “We have no other motive at this point.”

Since the shooting, a GoFundMe page has been set up for Rohan:

As a ray of sunshine in Nadine’s life, Rohan Levy provided 15 years of joy and great memories to family, friends, and everyone with whom he crossed paths. Well loved by all and always the comedian, our fun loving scholar attended Williamsburg School for Architecture & Design, where he maintained an above 80 average in the field of architecture/engineering. Unfortunately, he lost his life due to a senseless act of gun violence.
