A Chicago woman has been charged with first-degree murder after she allegedly held down her boyfriend and poured bleach down his throat.

Yasmine Elder allegedly got into a fight with her boyfriend, Darrius Ellis, on Monday while the two of them were seated in a van, according to the Chicago Tribune. Elder was able to pin Ellis down and pour the bleach down his throat in the course of the fight, and when officers discovered Ellis, he was on the ground.

Officers took Ellis to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death was found to be “complications from forcible administration of a caustic substance.”

Elder has since been arrested and is expected to appear in court Thursday.
