Ben Carson gets stuck on elevator during affordable housing tour

HUD Secretary Ben Carson was touring an affordable housing complex in Miami when he was trapped, along with his wife and five others, in an elevator.

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson was touring an affordable housing complex in Miami on Wednesday when he was trapped, along with his wife and five others, in an elevator for 15 minutes.

NBC Miami reported that no one was injured, but they did have to wait for Miami-Dade fire rescue personnel to get them out of the trapped elevator.

Former Miami Heat basketball star Alonzo Mourning, whose nonprofit organization helped to develop the project, was on hand and nervously waiting for the Housing Secretary to be freed. He reportedly promptly apologized as soon as the group had escaped the elevator.

On his next stop on the tour, Carson reportedly asked if anyone had the “key” before getting into another elevator.
