Will Smith considering role of Genie in ‘Aladdin’ remake

Will Smith is reportedly in early talks to voice the character of the Genie for Disney's live-action remake.

Disney is continuing on in its live-action remakes of classic movies, and Aladdin is next up on the docket, with Will Smith reportedly in early talks to voice the character of the Genie.

According to Variety, Guy Ritchie will direct the remake of the 1992 classic, which saw Robin Williams voicing the character.

Smith had reportedly been in talks to lend his voice to the live-action remake of Dumbo but had to pull out because of scheduling concerns. However, Disney was still interested in working with Smith, so when the opportunity to have him work on Aladdin arose, they reportedly put him on the short list for consideration.
