Holder has completed his sexual harassment report for Uber

Back in February, Uber hired former US attorney general Eric Holder in order to investigate claims of sexual harassment and discrimination made against Uber. Now, Holder and his law firm, Covington & Burling, have finished their investigation, and these are their recommendations.

The report indicated that Uber’s chief executive, Travis Kalanick, who has stepped back for a leave of absence after being accused of flouting regulations, should have his responsibilities reallocated. It also called for more board oversight as well as an improved human resources program and better training, including “a robust and effective complaint process.”

In order to diversify the workplace, the report also suggested that Uber should be looking at more diverse hiring sources, such as historically Black college and universities. Their hiring processes should also be improved by such changes as blind-résumé reviews in order to eliminate hiring discrimination. Additionally, the report urged Uber to “take steps to eliminate bias and misuse of the performance review process.”

Additionally, a comprehensive review of pay practice was also suggested as well as the suggestion to “engage a consultant or undertake internal surveys to identify and address attrition that is higher than expected, across the company or within specific organizations.”
