Jada Pinkett Smith ‘deeply hurt’ by film’s portrayal of relationship with Tupac

Jada Pinkett Smith is not happy with Benny Boom’s new Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez on Me, which she described as “deeply hurtful,” especially in the way that it portrayed her relationship with Tupac.
“Forgive me … my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in All Eyez On Me to stand as truth,” Smith said in a series of tweets. “Pac never read me that poem. I didn’t know that poem existed until it was printed in his book.”
“Pac never said goodbye to me before leaving for LA. He had to leave abruptly and it wasn’t to pursue his career. I’ve never been to any of Pac’s shows by his request. We never had an argument backstage,” she said, adding, “The reimagining of my relationship to Pac has been deeply hurtful.”
Still, Smith made it a point to reach out to both Demetrius Shipp Jr. and Kat Graham, who played Tupac and Smith respectively, to tell them that she wasn’t made at them over the biopic.
“Thank you for bringing so much heart and spirit to your roles,” Smith tweeted at the two stars. “You both did a beautiful job with what you were given. Thank you both.”
