Physician vowed to ‘come back and kill’ before shooting seven at hospital
When Dr. Henry Bello, 45, was forced to resign over two years ago due to sexual harassment allegations he vowed to get back at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. He carried out that threat yesterday when he showed up at the New York hospital armed with an assault rifle and gunned down seven people, killing one doctor before turning the gun on himself.
“We fired him because he was kind of crazy,” Dr. Maureen Kwankam said.
“He promised to come back and kill us then.”
The shooting began at approximately 2:45 pm when Bello, in a white lab coat probably to hide his AR-15, began firing on his former co-workers on the hospitals 16th floor.
As cops closed in on him he went up a floor and the carnage ended there when he shot himself.

Before that he tried to start a fire at the nurse’s station but the sprinkler system put out the small flames. He also tried to light himself on fire before he shot himself.
He was found laying dead next to one of his victims, a female who has been identified only as a doctor. She died at the scene.
Officials have not yet released the identity of any of the victims.
“We’ve had a real tragedy here in the Bronx this afternoon,” Mayor de Blasio said outside the Morris Heights hospital. “It’s something we’ve seen around the country, and now we’ve experienced it here.”
Four of the victims are in serious condition with another in stable condition after being shot in the leg.
