Black barber hooks up white customer with Confederate flag
A black barber’s Confederate flag haircut for a white customer has raised some eyebrows on social media.
But the barber doesn’t have a problem with it.
“I was thinking it was some racist-type stuff but, as he sat down and I was doing it and he was talking to me the whole time,” barber Demontre Heard explained to KFOR-TV. “And he explained to me why he was doing it, like, he was a really cool guy and I didn’t feel like he was racist at all.”
The haircut happened at Fade N Up barbershop in Oklahoma City and drew scores of comments when photos were posted on Facebook.
The shop’s owner, Corey Sutter, described Fade N Up as “open” where he and his barbers are “past racism.”
“The thing that’s really bothering me is, no matter how it may look to someone and them getting upset about it, this is what we do for a living,” Sutter added to KFOR-TV.
