Tupac called off romance with Madonna because she was white

In a letter written to Madonna while he was in jail, Tupac admitted that he broke off the sexual relationship he had with Madonna because she was white.

In a revealing letter written by Tupac Shakur to Madonna while he was in jail, Tupac admitted that he broke off the sexual relationship he had with Madonna because she was white.

“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting,” he wrote in the 1995 letter obtained by TMZ, adding, “But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.”

Even with the explanation, the letter indicates that Tupac knew he had hurt Madonna with the breakup, and he indicated that he opened his heart up with an apology, saying, “I never meant to hurt you.”

The letter in its entirety will go up for auction on July 19-28 at Gotta Have Rock and Roll. The bidding will start at $100,000, though it is expected to ultimately sell for far more than that, especially because the last letter that was written by Tupac sold at auction for over $170,000.
