Girls Trip dominated this weekend, netting the biggest opening weekend of any live-action comedy this year.
The movie, which stars Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, and Jada Pinkett-Smith, brought in $30.4 million this weekend. This despite the fact that it is an R-rated comedy, which historically makes it a little harder to get the big box office numbers. It is also a female-driven story and comedy, which some worried would stunt its ability to make more.
But Girls Trip burst through barriers to become a resounding success this summer.
