Early Friday morning, a Manhattan couple jumped to their deaths and left double suicide notes pleading that their two children be cared for.

The 53-year-old man and the 50-year-old woman jumped from a 9th floor window at around 5:45 a.m., according to police. Both of them had suicide notes in their pockets.

According to The New York Posta law enforcement official described the note that the woman had as saying “in sum and substance, ‘Our kids are upstairs, please take care of
them.’”

The note that the man had in his pocket started out by saying, “WE HAD A WONDERFUL LIFE.” However, after asserting that “Patricia and I had everything in life,” the note went on to describe a “financial spiral,” explaining that they were committing suicide because “we can not live with” the “financial reality.”

According to the police source, the note also explained that both of them had medical issues, and they were not able to afford the health care bills stacking up against them.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

The news of the double suicide comes even as the Senate is currently debating health care reform in a desperate effort to get any forward motion on repealing and replacing Obamacare as the law of the land.
