According to VarietyWhoopi Goldberg has made the decision to return to The View for its twenty-first season.

This will also mark Goldberg’s tenth anniversary on the talk show.

The contract renewal is an important one for ABC, because Goldberg, who has served as moderator on the show, has been considered to be the force holding the show together since creator Barbara Walters retired from the show in 2014.

Goldberg has been on the show since 2007, making her one of the longest-running cast members, besides Joy Behar, who was part of the original 1997 cast. Additionally, Walters was on the show for 17 years before her retirement, and so while she is not part of the cast any longer, she still has the distinction of being a longer-running cast member than Goldberg.

Recently, ratings for the show have been higher as they have shifted their focus to more political discussions in addressing the news and scandals that have plagued the Donald Trump administration as well as his campaign.

This latest season had the highest ratings the show has seen in three years, with political guest stars like Hillary Clinton, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice.

The new season of The View airs in September.
