Jaden Smith is starring in a new anime on Netflix as the character Kaz Kaan, a “magistocrat” in the futuristic city of Neo Yokio.

In this fictional world, the only people who are allowed to use magic are the rich and powerful, which means that Kaz has to take time away from his life of luxury to fight demons and protect the city.

Along with his robotic sidekick, Kaz will then have to overcome his own indolence as well as the magical threats that crop up as he tries to follow his “sacred duty” to protect the city.

Ezra Koenig, lead vocalist and guitarist of Vampire Weekend, created the series and wrote and directed it with Nick Weidenfeld.

Jude Law, who provides the voice of the robot, also did the voiceover in Netflix’s new trailer describing the world of Neo Yokio: “Neo Yokio is the greatest city in the world. It is a diverse labyrinth of cultural and architectural innovation. Of course, whenever a city becomes the envy of the world, problems are bound to arise.”

Watch for Neo Yokio to hit Netflix on Sept. 22, 2017.
