Trump reportedly called Sessions an ‘idiot’ after Russia recusal
President Trump reportedly called Attorney General Jeff Sessions an "idiot" after learning about the appointment of special prosecutor Robert Mueller.
President Donald Trump reportedly called Attorney General Jeff Sessions an “idiot” after learning about the appointment of special prosecutor Robert Mueller, The New York Times reported on Thursday.
According to the report, Sessions later told friends that the dressing down Trump gave him in the Oval Office about the appointment was one of the most humiliating experiences of his political career.
Trump reportedly lambasted Sessions, blaming the appointment on the fact that Sessions had recused himself from the Russia investigation.
At that point, Sessions tried to resign, even sending a letter to the White House, but Trump’s aides convinced him that it would do more harm than good to fire Sessions so soon after firing former FBI Director James Comey.
