Serena Williams writes beautiful letter to her mother
In a beautiful letter written on Reddit, new mother Serena Williams wrote to her own mother, thanking her for supporting her and always being there for her.
She wrote about how her own brand new daughter had her thinking about everything her mother had done to help her as she struggled with her body image. She said that little Alexis Olympia has her same arms and legs, the ones that she was teased about from the age of 15.
“I don’t know how I would react if she has to go through what I’ve gone through since I was a 15 year old and even to this day,” Williams admitted.

The tennis great then praised her mother for her “classy” way of handling everything that came their way: “But mom, I’m not sure how you did not go off on every single reporter, person, announcer and quite frankly, hater, who was too ignorant to understand the power of a black woman.”
She finished the beautiful letter with a plea for continued help and guidance, writing, “Promise me, Mom, that you will continue to help. I’m not sure if I am as meek and strong as you are yet. I hope to get there one day. I love you dearly.”
