Bill Clinton’s first novel being turned into TV series

Former president Bill Clinton, along with bestselling author James Patterson, will see their upcoming thriller adapted for Showtime.

The novel titled The President Is Missing will be published in 2018. It is the story of a US president’s disappearance. Clinton’s touch is apparently evident with details of the presidency that only someone who has been there would know.

According to sources, many studios wanted to develop the television show. Clinton and Patterson took 16 meetings all over Hollywood in an effort to find the right fit.

The show will not be a limited run, it will be a standard ongoing drama series.

“Bringing The President Is Missing to Showtime is a coup of the highest order,” said Showtime president and CEO David Nevins. “The pairing of President Clinton with fiction’s most gripping storyteller promises a kinetic experience, one that the book world has salivated over for months and that now will dovetail perfectly into a politically relevant, character-based action series for our network.”

“I’m really enjoying writing this book and working with Jim,” Clinton stated. “And I can’t wait to see Showtime bring the characters to life.”

“The White House is such an exciting world to explore and is made even more so with the unique insights of a former President,” Patterson said. “Rich storytelling opportunities for this series abound.”
