Deshaun Watson donates first game check to cafeteria workers

Deshaun Watson is already impressive on the field as a rookie starting quarterback for the Houston Texans, but it’s his amazing gesture of charity that really has people talking.
This week, Watson got his first game check, but rather than banking it for himself or spending it, he turned around and donated it, splitting up the check between three cafeteria workers who worked in the team cafeteria.
The three cafeteria workers had lost everything in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which devastated the Houston area and left several people homeless, without power, or otherwise reeling.
“Anything else y’all need, I’m always here to help,” Watson said in a touching video of the moment he gave his check to the three workers.
This shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s been following Watson’s career, however. Dabo Swinney, the head football coach at Clemson, spoke out ahead of the 2017 NFL draft saying that any teams passing on Watson would regret it the way NBA teams that passed on Michael Jordan regretted it.
While Watson has certainly been good on the field, this latest news is showing the class of man that he is, and it’s clear that Houston has gotten a different class of player on their hands.
