Macklemore discusses white rappers on ‘Chelsea’

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

In a sneak peek of the newest episode of ‘Chelsea’, Macklemore and Handler dish about white rappers and the difference between rap and hip-hop.

Before Macklemore and the likes of G-Eazy and Machine Gun Kelly, there was Eminem. He changed the look and feel of rap music and Handler was curious why there weren’t more white rappers.

Macklemore said that that there truly is a good number of white rappers but “there’s not a lot of great ones.”

They went on to talk about the difference between rap and hip-hop. “Rap is something that you do, hip-hop is something that you live — that would be like from the purest hip-hop standpoint,” Macklemore said. “Rap is an element of the culture so it’s a part of the craft.”
