Tony Goldwyn is adding his voice to the many people in Hollywood speaking out about the culture of sexual abuse in the industry.
The “Scandal” actor tweeted his support for Lupita Nyong’o, who recently spoke out about her own experience of sexual harassment by Harvey Weinstein, who she claimed had asked her for a massage and tried on multiple occasions to force alcohol on her.
Goldwyn then opened up about his own experience.
“It happened to me when I was literally Lupita’s age in my last year of acting school,” he said.

“It happened to me by a man, and it wasn’t as extended and awful as what Lupita went through, but it was the same thing,” he continued. “It was the casting couch and I didn’t understand what was going on, what was happening — I thought it was my fault. I thought I was misunderstanding the situation … It took me a couple of years to get over it.”
Since the story broke about the years of sexual assault and harassment that Weinstein had subjected dozens of women to, many actors and actresses have come out to condemn the culture of Hollywood, and a #MeToo campaign hit the internet with women all coming out to share their own stories as well.
