Sarah Huckabee Sanders seems to think JFK and Kennedy are two different presidents
During a press briefing, Sanders seemed to name "JFK" and "Kennedy" as two different presidents, and the slip-up didn't go unnoticed.
In true Trump administration flub fashion, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders seemed to name “JFK” and “Kennedy” as two different presidents, and the slip-up didn’t go unnoticed.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, Sanders was speaking to the recent controversial comments made by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly about Confederate General Robert E. Lee in which Kelly suggested that Lee was an “honorable” man and that the Civil War was caused by the inability of the two sides to compromise.
Sanders said, in reading from her notes, that “all of our leaders have flaws.”
“Washington, Jefferson, JFK, Roosevelt, Kennedy. That doesn’t diminish their contributions to our country. It certainly can’t erase them from our history. And Gen. Kelly was simply making the point that just because history isn’t perfect doesn’t mean it’s not our history,” she said.

Of course, the internet wasn’t about to let that slip past unnoticed, with Twitter erupting over the apparent idea that Sanders didn’t know that “JFK,” shorthand for “John F. Kennedy,” was in fact the same as “Kennedy.”
Though as CNN White House reporter Jeremy Diamond pointed out, while the flub is easy to poke fun at, there are other, more important things wrong with Sanders’ defense of Kelly. Diamond tweeted: “There are a lot to question/criticize about that briefing today & Kelly’s words. I don’t think Sarah repeating JFK & Kennedy is one of them.”
