Trump’s Twitter account shuts down for 11 whole minutes, and it was glorious

For about 11 minutes on Thursday night, President Donald Trump must have felt like the world was ending, because his Twitter account was shut down.

Right around 7:00 p.m., anyone who tried to visit the page belonging to ’45’ got the message: “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!”

Twitter admitted at first that the account was “inadvertently deactivated due to a human error,” though they later updated their statement to say that  “a Twitter customer support employee … did this on the employee’s last day.”

Which means that some hero over at Twitter did more than just clean out their office: they took a swipe at the tweeter-in-chief and took away his favorite toy.

Even though the account was only down for 11 minutes, during that time, the internet was in a flurry with all kinds of conspiracy theories and jokes, with some suggesting that it was a “coup” or that Trump was no longer president, since all his power is in his tweets.

After the Twitter account was reactivated, Trump himself addressed the matter: “My Twitter account was taken down for 11 minutes by a rogue employee. I guess the word must finally be getting out-and having an impact,” he said, on Twitter of course.

The tweets are back now, but here are some of the best Twitter reactions from the 11 golden minutes.
