The 54-year-old comedian comes clean about his heavy past
D.L. Hughley has been holding on to some pretty heavy secrets and he recently came clean about his tragic past during an interview with Angela Yee on her Lip Service podcast.
The 54-year-old comedian opened up about infidelity early in his marriage and the tragic murder of the son he shared with his mistress.
“I had knocked this chick up and had the baby and the baby got killed by her boyfriend,” he told the Lip Service hostess. “It was a horrible, horrible experience. I had this baby that I’m paying for. I’m a boy, I was scared, I was married. I was just starting out my career.”
He went on to describe how he learned that his son was suffering after being abused by his mistress’ boyfriend.
“I get a call from my boy and he says, ‘Your son is in the hospital.’ So, I go to the hospital and this boy was laying on the bed. Apparently, her boyfriend had shaken him and damaged his brain.”
The Kings of Comedy star admitted that he kept the child’s existence a secret from his wife, but eventually got the nerve to tell her what happened.
“Finally, one day I tell my wife and you know what she said to me? ‘I wish you would have told me this and we could’ve went through this together.’”
