The three UCLA players who were arrested in China for allegedly shoplifting are back in the United States, and Donald Trump wants to make sure they know who they need to thank for their release.
“Do you think the three UCLA Basketball Players will say thank you President Trump? They were headed for 10 years in jail!” Trump tweeted on Wednesday.

LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley arrived back in the United States late Tuesday night after Trump reportedly spoke with the Chinese president to work out their release. The charges of shoplifting were dropped against them, though it is not clear if they will face discipline from UCLA itself, which is conducting its own investigation.
The college athletes are expected to address the incident to the media, and it sounds like Trump will be watching and waiting for a ‘thank you’.
