American Airlines accidentally let too many pilots take their vacations over Christmas, and now some flights during that critical traveling week don’t have anyone to fly them.

According to a statement from the Allied Pilots Association, which represents the pilots for the airline, a glitch allowed all of the pilots to be able to get time off during the busy travel season.

“On Friday, management disclosed a failure within the pilot schedule bidding system. As a result, thousands of flights currently do not have pilots assigned to fly them during the upcoming critical holiday period. Today, management issued an update detailing the ‘significant holes’ in the operation and unilaterally invoked a solution for crewing affected flights,” the statement read.

American Airlines itself has also addressed the problem in a tweet in which they explained, “We’re working diligently to address the issue and expect to avoid cancellations this holiday season…”

Pilots are being offered 150 percent of their hourly rate if they agree to man the flights during the holiday season.

According to a company memo, flights from Dallas, Boston, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City and Charlotte will be impacted and do not have a captain and/or first officer, Bloomberg reported.
