Fox News host brings up network’s own sex scandals while covering Lauer firing

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

When Fox News covered the firing of Matt Lauer over sexual misconduct allegations, one host felt it wasn’t appropriate to cover the story without addressing the “800-pound gorilla in the room.”

The “gorilla” was the fact that Fox itself had already been through this kind of controversy, with Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly.

Outnumbered‘s Harris Faulkner, in covering the Lauer story, pointed out, “We work at Fox, let’s not ignore the 800-pound gorilla in the room. We have been down a road ourselves. And what we know, as we watch this with these other women, incredible bravery for these victims to come forward.”

As the media industry continues to be rocked by allegations of sexual misconduct, it’s easy to fall into finger-pointing and partisan fighting, so it’s nice to see that at least someone at Fox is living by the adage of not throwing stones in glass houses.
