Gayle King: ‘I don’t see myself on TV at 70’

Gayle King is loving her life, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t looking forward to living the grandmother lifestyle sometime in the future, either.

“I don’t see myself on TV at 70, but never say never,” King joked during an interview with Refinery 29.

The “CBS This Morning” anchor also spoke on how it would be nice if her kids, Kirby and Will, were able to give her grandchildren sometime soon.

“I don’t think I’ll be the stay-at-home, babysitting kind of grandma,” she said. “I’m thinking I would want to kick back. Maybe I’ll be in California with another radio show and some outdoor space! But right now, I have no intentions of slowing down.”

In that same interview, King also opened up about how people always associate her with Oprah Winfrey, and she’s okay with that.

“I guess that I’m just Oprah [Winfrey]’s best friend,” she said. “But I don’t get hung up on that. Because even when people say she’s just Oprah’s best friend… well, that ain’t a bad thing! I never felt like I had to justify my existence, because the truth of the matter is, that’s how most people did get to know me, as Oprah’s best friend.”
