Chance The Rapper is spreading holiday cheer in his hometown.
On Monday night, the 24-year-old rapper gave attendees of his monthly OpenMike event some serious swag.
He handed out 300 pairs of the unreleased Jordan Retro 11s to the crowd. The kicks won’t be available to the public until Saturday and come with a hefty price tag of $220.
OpenMike is a monthly event Chance hosts to honor his late mentor, Mike Hawkins, who was known for uplifting Chicago’s youth.
Several lucky fans took to Twitter to thank the rapper for his generosity.
On the anniversary of the passing of my mentor Brother Mike, @OpenMikeChicago had one of it’s best nights yet. Thanks to @Korporate00 for speaking and thanks to @Jumpman23 for bringing 300 pair of unreleased 11s for the young creatives. Until next year… POWER TO THE PEOPLE…
