Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Nominations for the 2018 Critic’s Choice Awards are in and it looks like a big year for black folks on film.

Dee Rees‘s Mudbound scored four nominations including Best Ensemble Cast and a Best Supporting Actress nod for Mary J. Blige.

She will go up against Tiffany Haddish for Girl’s Trip (up for Best Comedy) and Octavia Spencer for her role in The Shape of Water, which nabbed 14 nominations total, including Best Picture.

Jordan Peele snagged several nominations for Get Out including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, and Best Sci-Fi or Horror Movie. Daniel Kaluuya earned a Best Actor nom for his leading role in the flick.

When it comes to the small screen, a few of our favorites are feeling the love.

Jenifer Lewis is up for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on black-ish, which is also nominated for Best Comedy Series. Anthony Anderson is up for the Best Actor in a Comedy Series prize for his starring role on the show.

Tituss Burgess is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy series for his hilarious antics on The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Regina King earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her work on American Crime.

This Is Us is in the running against Stranger Things for Best Drama Series with Sterling K. Brown earning a nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

On the reality TV front, Tyra Banks is up for Best Reality Show Host for America’s Got Talent and RuPaul nabbed two nominations for Rupaul’s Drag Race including Best Host and Best Reality Competition Series.

Looks like we will have plenty of reasons to tune in to the Critic’s Choice Awards when it airs on Jan. 11.
