Three teenage boys have been arrested and charged for robbing and murdering a homeless man. All three will be tried as adults.
Brandon Conrad, 14, Malik Page, 16, and Emmanuel Harris, 17, were all arrested for the death of 57-year-old Kevin Cullen after police working the case were assigned to their high school.
Last month, Cullen, who was reportedly between homes according to his friends, was beaten to death on the streets of Philadelphia. Witnesses said that Cullen’s attackers laughed while they were beating him.
“They were laughing, like it was funny,” a witness said. “They hit his head into a wall so hard I felt it in my house on the second floor.”
Police said that Cullen did not have anything that the teens could have stolen.
After investigators looked at surveillance footage and talked to classmates who reportedly heard the boys bragging about the incident, the three teens were arrested.
“It was a combination of video, word of mouth from varying sources. The kids started talking, they spoke to their friends,” Philadelphia homicide Captain John Ryan told DailyMail.com. “They were known for troublemaking inside the school.”
Ryan added that two of the teens lived with their families and were “more or less in shock” when the teens were arrested. The third boy lives in foster care.
