What year were you founded?
2014.
What inspired you to launch your business?
I have always loved and prided myself on being able to find and give creative and unique gifts to my family and friends. One of the best things about giving a really great gift is watching the recipient’s reaction as they open it and they find something unexpected, thoughtful, and perfect for them. I decided to combine my hospitality industry and customer service experience with my spirit of ‘giving’ + love for shopping (smile) and Diana Delivers was born! With Diana Delivers, I wanted to create a business where people who hate shopping, are too busy to shop, don’t live in the same location as the recipient, etc., are still able to give someone a ‘perfect gift’ without doing any of the work, but getting all the reward.
What makes your brand unique?
Diana Delivers ‘thinks outside the traditional gift basket’ and creates custom gift baskets for all occasions that are tailor made for the recipient. We collaborate with you to provide the perfect gift basket for your loved one, friend, or client and ensure your gift basket is filled with items you request. We respond and complete gift baskets in a timely manner and they are always visually appealing and contain items the recipient is sure to love. We personally deliver gift baskets within 20 miles of Washington, DC and ship nationally. But most importantly, no two gift baskets are ever alike and that’s the beauty of Diana Delivers!
Why should everyone #BuyBlack this holiday season?
Everyone should #BuyBlack this holiday season because investing into one another strengthens our community in various ways from monetary to self-pride. It teaches our children that our ideas, our companies, our support for one another can sustain us. I believe that entrepreneurship and our support of our businesses has been one of the ways we have been able to survive and thrive through the oppressive regimes in this country. Now more than ever under this current administration, we are seeing a nation that rejects Black folks and other people of color and it is imperative that we find ways to remind ourselves of our worth and value.
How do you pay it forward within your community?
Over the years, Diana Delivers has donated gift baskets to several local charities and organizations that are doing positive work with children and youth in the DC community. This holiday season, we are featuring our Black Girl Magic spa and pamper themed gift baskets with products from five other Black woman owned businesses. A percentage of the proceeds of our Black Girl Magic gift baskets will be donated to a non profit organization that bails Black women out of jail during the holiday season.
