On the Heels of #MeToo: Alt-right women are upset with their men for being sexist
Women in the alt-right movement seem to have discovered something: alt-right men are sexist.
Self-described “Ethno Nationalist” Tara McCarthy wrote about this revelation on Twitter, saying, “Women in the Alt Right are constantly harassed by low status anonymous trolls trying to put us in our place.”
“The ultimate goal seems to be to bully us off the internet,” McCarthy added.
She then tried to call alt-right men to action, saying, “Men in the Alt Right are going to have to decide whether they will continue to passively/actively endorse this behavior, or speak out against it. If you want more women speaking publicly about ethno nationalism, I suggest you choose the latter.”
Another conservative woman, Lauren Southern, made a video called “Why I’m Not Married,” saying that she was upset by the fact that she had received backlash for not being married while championing “family values.”
“I am not trying to sell the idea that myself, as a 22-year-old, needs to be married right now for the sake of traditionalism and not being a degenerate,” Southern said in a YouTube video. “What is also just completely shocking to me is the utter lack of understanding of nuance.”
It seems the #MeToo movement is reaching even the alt-right. And apparently, those women are okay with racism, but not sexism.
