Laila Ali: It’s ‘wonderful’ Colin Kaepernick got Muhammad Ali Legacy Award
Laila Ali is thrilled that Colin Kaepernick got the Muhammad Ali Legacy Award that is named after her famous father. That said, she isn’t going to be calling him the modern day Muhammad Ali anytime soon.
The winner of the legacy award is chosen by representatives of Sports Illustrated as well as the Ali family to “honor a figure who embodies the ideals of sportsmanship, leadership and philanthropy and has used sports as a platform for changing the world.”
“Isn’t that wonderful?” Laila said to TMZ sports when stopped on the street and asked about Colin winning this year.

“He has my 100% stamp of approval.”
TMZ told her that “People are calling him the modern day Muhammad Ali,” before they asked her, “Do you agree?”
She simply gave the photographer a look and said, “I think it’s good he got the award though.”
