Louisiana residents react to rare snow day

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Louisiana doesn’t get much snow but when it does people get excited. Da’Quan Bellard, a student-athlete at LSU in Opelousas shared his glee on social media and his post quickly went viral.

While many states get snow regularly each winter, Louisiana isn’t so lucky which makes it extra special when the flakes fall. Bellard, a track and field star felt the need not just to take a walk in the snow but to run and jump around without his shirt on all while singing Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” song.

When he shared the video of him frolicking in the snow on Twitter it was retweeted and shared over 14,000 times and on Facebook, he got over 90,000 views.

Mary O’Day, who works at the Giddy Up coffee shop in Folsom, but who is originally from Pennsylvania said, “I miss it. We don’t see it much here.

NYT says Trump ‘hate-watches’ Don Lemon to get riled up —

“I’ve been gone 11 years [from Pennsylvania] and I can say you really do miss it.”

Not everyone was so happy with the snowfall. Many people were unhappy with their commute due to the fact that warm weather drivers aren’t used to factoring in the snow when they’re on the road.

By the middle of the day there were almost 70 car crashes in the district that covers St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington and St. Helena parishes.

“Most of these are preventable crashes that are occurring because people are not slowing down on the road,” State Police Troop L spokesman Dustin Dwight stated.

Let’s all take a page from Bellard’s book and the next time it snows, go out and have some fun only maybe we should keep our shirts on.
