The suspect who strapped a bomb pipe to himself and set it off inside of a NYC subway station has been identified. What’s more, the entire incident was caught on surveillance video.
The video shows 27-year-old Akayed Ullah walking in one of the tunnels underneath New York City’s Port Authority in Times Square. Ullah is walking amid subway riders just before the explosion. However, it appears the bomb malfunctioned.
Ullah is now in police custody.
The NYPD confirmed that the incident was “absolutely an attempted terrorist act” inspired by ISIS. Police say Ullah, an immigrant from Bangladesh, has been living in the U.S. for seven years.
