Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann posted an image of himself in blackface on Sunday that, predictably, resulted in serious backlash.

The soccer player posted a picture of himself painted black in an NBA uniform, wearing an Afro wig and posing with a basketball.

Obviously, the internet wasn’t going to let this kind of blatant blackface stand, and absolutely let Griezmann have it. The athlete was subsequently dragged for his ignorance and for somehow making it to 2017 without knowing this was unacceptable.

He has since issued an apology, writing in French: “I recognize that was clumsy on my part. If I hurt some people I am sorry.”

His apology comes after he initially responded to criticism by saying, “Calm down guys, I’m a fan of the Harlem globetrotters and the good times . . . it’s a tribute.”

It’s not even Halloween anymore and the racist tomfoolery just keeps on coming.
