News anchors get dragged over racially-charged Diddy comments

A white news anchor got dragged online after suggesting Diddy doesn’t do anything, and laughing while her colleague suggested that he was high and drunk in a recent video.

KRON4 News anchor Darya Folsom giggled when her reporter colleague Henry Wofford called into the show to suggest that Diddy looked like he “smoked a blunt and drank a 40” in a recent video he posted online.

The video in question featured Diddy announcing that he wanted to become the first Black majority owner of an NFL team. Diddy said that he wanted to buy the Carolina Panthers and suggested he would also hire Colin Kaepernick.

After the comment, Folsom found herself in hot water for her follow-up “joke”:

“What does Diddy do?”

Of course, that one question set the Internet ablaze. Not only did Twitter come for Folsom for her ignorance, but they also showed up in force to explain to her exactly what a multimillionaire like Diddy does with his many business enterprises.

‘An attempt to be funny’

Wofford, the person who made the comments on Diddy’s erroneous drug use, is Black.

He has since issued a public apology for his comments, saying that he meant them as a joke.

“Although it was said in an attempt to be funny, I realize insinuating a person may be drunk or on drugs is nothing to joke about. For that I sincerely apologize to Mr. Combs, his fans and everyone who was offended. Dozens of Diddy’s twitter followers have accused me of playing on racial stereotypes. That was not my goal. But I understand my comments had that impact and for that I sincerely apologize,” Wofford said in his apology.

He also told people to lay off of Folsom.

“Darya Folsom has taken a lot of heat for her reaction to my comments this morning. The negative feedback she’s receiving is unfortunate because Darya is a very professional journalist and I would never want to see anyone blamed for something I said.”
