Former rap star Mystikal pleaded not guilty to rape and kidnapping charges on Monday.
In Caddo District Court, Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, waived an arraignment, according to KSLA News.
Currently, the rapper is at Caddo Correctional Center, where he has been held since Aug. 21 on first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping charges.
Mystikal will get his day in court on Jan. 18, when he reportedly hopes to see his $3 million bail reduced.
Not much details
According to TMZ, the 46-year-old rapper surrendered to Louisiana police upon learning about a warrant out for his arrest.
Not many more details are known about the case.
Two other suspects have been arrested in connection with the case: Averweone Holman and Tenichia Wafford. Holman now faces first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping charges. Wafford faces an obstruction of justice charge.
Rapper has a record
This isn’t the first time Mystikal was caught up with the law on rape charges. The “Shake It Fast” rapper was convicted in 2004 for sexual battery in the 2002 assault of his former hairstylist.
He reportedly forced her to perform oral sex on him in exchange for not turning her into police for cashing $80,000 of unauthorized checks from his bank account.
Mystikal was sentenced to six years and ordered to register with the state of Louisiana as a sex offender. He was released in January 2010.
