The hip-hop icon remembers her late friend and collaborator on her 39th birthday
On Tuesday, Missy Elliot took to Instagram to post a throwback photo for what would have been Aaliyah‘s 39th birthday.
“Aaliyah so many people LOVE your Style & Music TIL this day!,” Elliott wrote on Instagram along with four photos of herself and Aaliyah. “I wish they all got a chance to meet you to see how CARING you were to EVERYONE you met!”
Elliot died tragically at the age of 22 in August 2001. She had been filming a “Rock the Boat” music video shortly before the fatal plane crash over the Bahamas.
