The SAG Awards are underway and Sterling K. Brown has continued his winning streak!
The This Is Us star nabbed the honor of Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his role of Randall Pearson on NBC’s hit show; marking the first time a black actor has won a SAG Award in the category.
He delivered another amazing speech, this time taking time to shout out his beautiful and talented wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe.
“I love actors so much, I decided to marry one,” he said. “You’re the best scene partner a brother’s ever had.”
He also joked about his onscreen “white family” while sharing the love for his cast mates.
“To my glorious cast of This Is Us, you guys feed me day in, day out. To my white family, which is thankfully nothing like the family in Get Out, I love you. To my TV wife, Susan , let’s keep on repping for the people. To the two other young actors that play Randall, to Lonnie and Niles, thank you for making the work so easy and seamless.”
Brown noted how special this particular award is, given that winners are voted on by fellow actors.
“What a blessing it is to do what you love for a living. What an honor it is to be recognized by your peers for a job well done,” he said. “This room is a source of endless inspiration for me. I love all of you y’all. People call us weird and strange. The truth of the matter is, everybody is weird and strange and we just embrace ourselves for who we are.”
Sterling K. Brown has been racking up tons of trophies lately. He brought home the Critic’s Choice Award for and NAACP Image Award for the same role. Earlier this month, he made history as the first black actor to win a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
