He Married His College Sweetheart
Similar to his character on This is Us, Brown met his wife Ryan Michelle Bathe while they were in college together at Stanford. They met their freshman year and have now been married for 10 years. They have two sons. The couple even briefly worked together on the series Army Wives.
He and His Wife were Born in the Same Hospital
Though they didn’t meet until they were teenagers, Brown and Bathe crossed paths much earlier in life. They were born at the same hospital in St. Louis, MO in 1976.
An August Wilson Play Planted the Acting Bug in Him
Brown started off as economics major at Stanford, but ultimately ended up switching to acting. A professor convinced him to just audition for a role in August Wilson’s play Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. He snagged a lead role and ended up giving more time and energy to acting. After a while, he figured out acting was just a hobby, but a calling.
He Has Three Movies Coming out in 2018
2018 is a busy year for Brown. In addition to racking up awards for his work on the television series This is Us, Brown has three films coming out this year. He is in the highly anticipated Black Panther, he has a role in Predator, and he’s in a short called Magnetic Plasma for the mass(es) Enlightenment.
He Keeps His Emmys in the Garage
Brown keeps his Emmys in his garage, but it’s not collecting dust next to a lawn mower. He has his awards in a display case that is part of his man cave.
