Fred Goldman wants O.J. Simpson to hand over autograph profits
On Tuesday, Fred Goldman’s lawyers said that OJ Simpson should be required to turn over any money he’s made from autographs signed after his release.
That money, the lawyers claimed, should go toward the $70 million judgement against Simpson for the wrongful death of his estranged wife Nicole Brown Simpson as well as Ron Goldman, according to the New York Daily News.
Originally, a $33.5 million civil suit was filed holding Simpson responsible for the two deaths, though the amount has skyrocketed since that time.
But Fred Goldman has continued to rail against Simpson since that time, claiming that Simpson has refused to pay up.
“Mr. Simpson has sought to subvert this wrongful death judgment by his abject refusal to pay, much less accept personal responsibility,” David Cook, Goldman’s lawyer, wrote.
Goldman has been able to see some money from Simpson, albeit tangentially. He got the rights to Simpson’s ghostwritten book, If I Did It, in 2008 after Simpson’s conviction. He added “Confessions of the Killer” and went on to publish the book.

What’s more, Goldman was able to secure the memorabilia that Simpson allegedly tried to steal back from some dealers in a Las Vegas hotel.
As for Simpson, one of his lawyers, Malcolm LaVergne, claimed that Simpson is selling his autograph specifically in an attempt to pay off his legal debts.
Another lawyer, Ronald Slates, attacked Goldman, saying that he and and his lawyer “attempted to drag Mr. Simpson into court every time they hear a rumor, see something on television, or read in an internet news posting, a mere vague allegation involving Mr. Simpson’s commercial exploitation of himself.”
Life after prison
Simpson, 71, has only been out of jail for a few months, but he’s given out a few autographs in that time. For example, the former NFL star handed out his signature for Halloween shortly after his release.
He was spotted celebrating Halloween by dressing up in his old ’32’ jersey from the Buffalo Bills.
While TMZ reported that Simpson didn’t appear to be personally handing out candy, he did have a bowl that trick-or-treaters could take candy from. He also took the time to greet each group and pose for pictures and autographs, though none of the people that came to get an autograph were pictured wearing costumes.
