Colin Kaepernick has just completed his pledge to donate $1 million to different charities supporting social justice and fighting inequality.

For the last $100,000 of his campaign, Kaepernick announced earlier this month that 10 different charities would each receive $10,000, with other celebrities matching that $10,000 for their donations.

Colin Kaepernick is still not on a NFL team and that’s shameful

This final #10for10 saw none other than Usher stepping up to the plate for the charity H.O.M.E (Helping Oppressed Mothers Endure) from Lithonia, GA.

According to the charity’s website, H.O.M.E. was “founded to help Single Mothers who are working and/or going to school, survive the ‘tough times’ and persevere towards an ‘appointed time’ for success in life.

“We provide immediate resources to rebuild, restore and refurnish homes of Moms emerging from divorce, domestic violence or in desperate need of starting over,” the charity says.

“This was an opportunity to do something major, and you did it,” Usher said in a video on Kaepernick’s Twitter account. “You have raised $1 million. I’m happy to be a part of the completion of that $1 million. Everyone that has done something around this is amazing. This is a collaborative effort. As a result of us helping each other, we all become stronger.”

Kaepernick continues his activism

Ever since Kaepernick made headlines for kneeling in protest during the national anthem, he has continued his activist streak off of the playing field, setting the bar high for other athletes and celebrities to get involved in their communities as well.

Still, Kaepernick has remained shut out of the NFL, leading to accusations that the league has blackballed him because of his #TakeAKnee activism. The protests have been the subject of nationwide debate, prompting even President Donald Trump to weigh in and suggest that any players who kneel during the national anthem should be fired.

But clearly, Kap isn’t going to let that stop him from making a difference in a big way and embodying #BlackExcellence.
