Tiffany Haddish hilariously responds to Oscars snub

The actress is much more concerned about her coins.

Tiffany Haddish won the Best Supporting Actress award from the New York Film Critics Circle for her role in Girls Trip. When it came time for the Oscars to be announced, many people were surprised when Haddish didn't get a nod.

Tiffany Haddish isn’t letting the fact that she didn’t get an Oscar nomination for Girls Trip get her down.

In fact, she had the best possible response to the Academy Award snub. “If it doesn’t come with a check, then I’m not that interested.”

Haddish won the Best Supporting Actress award from the New York Film Critics Circle for her break-out role in Girls Trip and gave the best 17-minute acceptance speech. When it came time for the Oscars to be announced, many people were surprised when Haddish didn’t get a nod.

“That support meant the world to me,” she told EW of all the people clamoring for her to be recognized. “I really, really appreciate it. It validated all the hard work I’ve been doing over all these years. It lets me know that I really am on the right track, people approve of me, the fact that they wanted me to have that award or be nominated means so much and it just makes me want to work harder, so I can continue to entertain the masses.”

Haddish went on to say that working and staying busy are more important to her than the recognition.

“If the award comes with a check, then I want that award. But if it doesn’t come with a check, then I’m not that interested,” she noted in the Entertainment Weekly interview.

Girls Trip 2

Instead, Haddish would rather reprise her Girls Trip success with a sequel to the R-rated comedy.

“I have been constantly bothering the studios about that,” she shares. “Every time I see one of the executives, I say, ‘When are we doing Girls Trip 2? How’s it going to work out? Here, I have a few ideas.’ I’m like writing it myself. I’m so ready for Girls Trip 2 to happen. And so is Jada [Pinkett-Smith] and Queen Latifah and Regina [Hall],” says Haddish in the interview.

“We all talk about it. We talk to each other at least once or twice a month, like ‘What do you think? What about this idea?’ I’m like, we should just write it ourselves and then present it to the studio, like, ‘When are we going to shoot this?’”

We’re definitely with her on this one and can’t wait to see where the sequel takes them next.
