A judge has granted Jill Scott‘s request to place a gag order on her estranged husband after he smeared her to the press.
The singer now has a restraining order against her ex Mike Dobson, which prevents him from further publicly discussing their now failed marriage.
According to TMZ, Scott filed legal documents accusing Dobson of engaging in a campaign to harass and disparage her, with the intent of a shakedown for money in their divorce settlement.
What’s more, Scott says Dobson also contacted her friends and family to talk trash about her. When the singer-songwriter approached him about it, she says, he admitted that he was seeking revenge for her ending their 19-month marriage.
Scott says that her soon to be ex-husband is simply bitter. And in an attempt to protect her $2 million worth of business accounts, she wants Dobson to adhere to their prenup agreement to keep her name out these press streets.
Dobson demands $500K from singer
In court documents obtained by Bossip, Mike Dobson made a barrage of accusations against Jill Scott.
Dobson countersued Scott’s divorce filing, claiming that she and her lawyer coerced him into signing a prenup weeks before their wedding day in June 2016. Because he signed the prenuptial agreement under duress, he argued, it is not legal.
What’s more, Dobson says Scott violated the agreement’s confidentiality clause by speaking to the press about the divorce.
He is now demanding $500,000 for pain and suffering, and argues that he is entitled to half of their marital assets.
“To (Scott), marriage is a matter of trivial convenience at best and a dispensable annoyance at worst, evidenced by the lightness, dismissiveness, and dehumanization,” Dobson says in the countersuit. “(Scott) never attempted to salvage the marriage, which she strenuously endeavored to destroy.”
Dobson also accused Scott of emasculating him throughout their marriage; claiming that she used her money to control and silence him. What’s more, he goes as far as to accuse of her of going on dates with “intimate male friends.”

Divorce filing
Scott, 45, filed for divorce on Sept. 5 after only 14 months of marriage.
The singer cited “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper.”
At the time of the divorce filing, Dobson called Scott an “evil woman.”
“I’m telling you. It’s like what Jill Scott wants, Jill Scott gets,” he said. “People are in her ear, and if someone comes in to challenge the dumb sh-t, they made me be the bad guy and that got me outta there.”
“She’s got issues,” Dobson added. “There’s no men in that family, there’s only women. And when a man comes in, it’s like a challenge. She’s made other men look bad, but I’m not the one. I said (to her) ‘you’ve met your match.’ She likes to have men that she can control. You’re not gonna control me. What’s right is right, and what’s wrong is wrong.”
