CASTING NEWS: Yvonne Orji & Teyonah Parris nab new roles
Both of these beautiful actresses have multiple new projects in the works.
A few of our favorite actresses are about to expand their #BlackGirlMagic by nabbing new roles.
Survivor’s Remorse star, Teyonah Parris, is set to star in an upcoming CBS pilot, Murder.
According to reports, the drama will explore crime through the unique and often-conflicting perspectives of cops and killers, witnesses and victims, friends and family. Shot like a true-crime documentary, the series invites the audience inside the emotional journey of an investigation, allowing them to decipher the truth and judge the suspects’ guilt or innocence for themselves.
Parris is also booked to star in Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk, adapted from the James Baldwin novel.
Insecure star, Yvonne Orji, is also making big moves. She has signed on to star in the upcoming sci-fi film, Spontaneous.
She’ll star as Special Agent Rosetti, and be joined by Hayley Law, Charlie Plummer, Katherine Langford, Piper Perabo and Rob Huebel.
Based on the movie’s description, fans are in for a wild ride.
Mara Carlye (Langford), whose life is forever changed when students in her senior class literally explode for no discernible reason. As students continue to pop like blood-filled balloons, and the town descends into both chaos and apathy, Mara and her friends stay close together as they await possible combustion—wondering what part of life is worth living if it might end suddenly.
Yvonne Orji will also star alongside Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish in their forthcoming comedy series, Night School.
Fans will also get see plenty more of her as Molly, Issa Rae‘s beloved BFF, who has her career on lock, but can’t seem to get her love life together on Insecure when it returns for its third season on October 9 on HBO.
